DETROIT, Jan. 13, 2009 - A ruling by Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Paula Manderfield today validates the legality of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan's business relationship and financial dealings with its Accident Fund Insurance Company of America subsidiary.
The ruling by Judge Manderfield to dismiss the only remaining count in the Michigan Attorney General's lawsuit against BCBSM means that all three counts filed against BCBSM have been successfully defended in court.
"We are pleased with Judge Manderfield's ruling," said Lisa DeMoss, BCBSM senior vice president and general counsel. "It dismisses the only remaining count before the court, confirms the legality of Accident Fund's ownership of subsidiaries and effectively ends the lawsuit by Attorney General Cox against the Blues."
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is nonprofit and an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
