Riley Named to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Board of Directors

DETROIT, September 18, 2008 - Wallace D. Riley of Grosse Pointe Farms was appointed to the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Board of Directors for a term ending in April 2010.

He will represent nongroup subscribers who are age 62 and over and retired.

Riley’s appointment marks his return to the Blue Cross board of directors, where he served from 1992 to 2002. Riley also is on the board of LifeSecure Insurance Company, a Blues subsidiary that offers long-term care insurance.

Riley has a distinguished career as an attorney and public servant. He is a past president of the American Bar Association and American Bar Retirement Association, past national vice president of the Federal Bar Association, and a past president of the State Bar of Michigan and Michigan State Bar Foundation.

The Blues board has 35 members. Eight seats are filled by medical professionals and hospital representatives, four by gubernatorial appointees and one by company management. The remaining 22 seats are filled by Blues customers from large, medium and small groups as well as nongroup subscribers.
