Chuck Osebold likes having his primary doctor coordinate his care

I wanted a health plan in which the doctor would give good advice and not make money from giving me another test when it was not needed. Since BCN is nonprofit, I called to enroll. They signed me up and I’ve been happy ever since.

I got a physician directory and picked a doctor that’s easy to drive to. He’s a real nice guy. I watch what I eat, avoid stress and get good sleep.  Between visits, I keep notes with my questions. When I see him, he answers all my questions.

It makes good sense to have one guy who knows what’s happening to me and coordinates my care.

Also, BCN mails me reminders to get my eyes checked, get a flu shot or a pneumonia shot. It’s preventive care and I like it. When I get a reminder, I take care of what it says. If there’s a form to fill out, I do it. I feel like you’ve been honest and forthcoming with me, and I want to do the same.

BCN will do well monetarily if I’m healthy, and you’re trying to keep me healthy. You’re looking after my best interests. We’re all on the same side.

With all the talk of health care these days, if everyone joined Blue Care Network, the problem would be solved. It’s simple, it works and could be applied to everyone. Some people might not have access to health care if they don’t have jobs. In that case, the problem would be solved if people were given jobs.

There are a lot of HMOs. I picked BCN since it seemed it was well-organized and they know what they’re doing. I asked people I knew and looked at the information BCN sent me. It wasn’t just a small company that wasn’t well-known. I thought they’d have the expertise.

Before I joined, one doctor told me I needed stents. I didn’t think I did. Once I joined BCN, my doctor didn’t think I did either. My previous doctor told me I was prediabetic. I took it seriously. My BCN doctor would bring me in and he’d give me advice on exercising. I followed everything I should. Now my blood is perfect.

There are lots of important decisions you make in life. Some of the most important are decisions about your health. I wanted a plan where the doctors were experts and honest about my medical care, so I could make decisions to keep me healthy. I can’t believe what a joy life is to me because I’m healthy and have a life without pain.

Your health care is a commitment. You want to think it’s a long-term relationship. It’s people I’ll be dealing with well into the future.
