A. A preexisting condition is any condition for which medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment was recommended or received during the six months immediately before your effective date of coverage.
Q. How long must I wait before I'm covered for preexisting conditions?
A. After six months from your effective coverage date, you will be eligible for covered benefits for preexisting conditions. Please refer to your Personal Plus certificate for a complete description for covered benefits.
Q. What if I am pregnant when I join the program?
A. There is no coverage for maternity or obstetrical care or for termination of pregnancies for up to six months from your date of coverage for any pregnancy occurring prior to the date of coverage.
Q. What if I become pregnant after I join Personal Plus?
A. You will be covered for any pregnancy occurring after your effective date of coverage.
Q. Do I have to fulfill a six-month preexisting condition waiting period if I have been enrolled with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan or Blue Care Network?
A. No, you do not have to fulfill the waiting period in Personal Plus if you have been enrolled with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan or Blue Care Network for six consecutive months prior to applying for Personal Plus. You must not have had a lapse in coverage.
