Warning signs of health care fraud
We rely on our members and providers to report suspected fraud as quickly as possible whenever:
- An Explanation of Benefits statement shows payment for services that you did not receive
- An EOB includes inaccurate names or dates of service
- Someone uses an expired identification card
- Someone loans his or her identification card to a person not entitled to it
- Someone adds a person not eligible for coverage to his or her contract
Health insurance fraud affects all of us
Health insurance fraud comes in many forms — from elaborate billing schemes to loaning an identification card, such as the Blue Care Network card, to someone not entitled to it so they can receive medical services. The cost of health insurance fraud affects all of us directly or indirectly as fraud accounts for billions of dollars in additional health care costs.
