How to access primary and specialty care
The primary care physicians in our network are medical doctors or osteopathic doctors who specialize in family and general practice, internal medicine, preventive medicine, internal medicine/pediatrics or pediatrics. Here’s a summary of what you can expect from these different practitioners.
- Family and general practice — Family or general practitioners treat patients of all ages, from newborns to adults, and also provide obstetrical and gynecological care.
- Preventive medicine — Preventive medicine practitioners promote health and well-being for patients of all ages.
- Internal medicine — Internists are trained to identify and treat adolescents, adult and geriatric medical conditions. Most of our network internists treat patients age 18 and older.
- Internal medicine and pediatrics — These physicians are trained in internal medicine and pediatrics to treat infants, children, adolescents and adults.
- Pediatrics — Pediatricians specialize in the treatment of infants, children and adolescents 18 years or younger.
For assistance with selecting a PCP or locating a BCN-participating physician, you may call our dedicated Physician Selection Line at 888-656-8276. If you have been a member of BCN for more than 90 days, you may change your PCP online through our secure member area.
All of our physicians meet our rigorous network affiliation standards. We screen our physicians to make sure they meet our quality requirements for professional training and medical practice.
