The National Committee for Quality Assurance is a nationally recognized, independent nonprofit organization that measures the quality of health care and health plans in the United States. The rigorous accreditation process is a voluntary review process and has been well received by the health maintenance organization community, with nearly half of the country's HMOs participating.
Since 2000, Blue Care Network has consistently received an Excellent Accreditation from NCQA. Excellent Accreditation is the highest level of accreditation awarded.
Survey teams of physicians and managed care experts conduct NCQA's accreditation survey process. In addition to an on-site review, the NCQA evaluates annual data on key clinical and service measures such as mammography screening rates, smoking cessation efforts and consumer satisfaction.
A national oversight committee of physicians analyzes the team's survey and assigns one of five possible accreditation levels: Excellent, Commendable, Accredited, Provisional or Denied.
Blue Care Network also received full patient and practitioner accreditation from NCQA for our disease management programs. Our accredited programs include asthma, congestive heart failure, adult diabetes and cardiovascular.
