Blue Care Network of Michigan
Blue Care Network of Michigan is a nonprofit health maintenance organization owned by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Established in 1998, we have nearly a half million members.
As an HMO, we have aligned our programs and coverage with our belief that our members feel better and have a better quality of life and that health care is less expensive when we:
- Invest in preventing illness and injury — We cover preventive services and health screenings and provide educational materials to help our members learn how to maintain and improve their health. We offer free smoking cessation and weight loss programs and our members receive discounts on select exercise and safety equipment, certain medications, fitness classes and Weight Watchers®.
- Provide comprehensive programs so members who are sick or injured have the tools they need to recover — We cover office visits, laboratory tests and hospitalizations and have nationally accredited Disease Management programs to help our members recover from and manage their condition as effectively and affordably as possible. We also have Care Management programs to assist members through periods of acute illness.
- Make it easy for members to get the care they need in the most appropriate setting — Our members select a primary care physician who coordinates most of the care the member receives. We also contract with specialists, hospitals, pharmacies and other health care professionals to improve our ability to coordinate the health of our members.
